Persistent Vision is an exhibition featuring three painters, Sherri Bryant, Julieann Dombrowksi and DeRon Hudson, who all work in large-and small-scale vibrant abstraction. Each of these artists' takes a different approach to abstract painting. Sherri Bryant's pattern-like abstractions are made up of hundreds of intricate symbolic illustration, created through many months of intense focused drawing with paint-marker and pen. DeRon Hudson creates painterly all over abstractions featuring repeated shapes, in bright color combinations, referencing letters and numbers, using a mixed media approach. And Julieann Dombrowski creates deeply layered, process-oriented abstractions, created through a process of meditative repeated gestures, reminiscent of abstract expressionists like Lee Krasner.

Each of these artists are participants in PASC (Progressive Art Studio Collective), an exhibition and studio program dedicated to supporting artists with developmental disabilities and mental health differences in Southeast Michigan. The goal of the PASC program is to support disabled artists to advance independent artistic practices and build individual career paths in the art and design fields. This exhibition is our inaugural exhibition in the PASC at the Belt, a temporary gallery space located in the Belt Alleyway in downtown Detroit, which we will run through September 2023. Persistent Vision will run from May 6-July 1.
